Three Dead and 34 Suspects Arrested Following Shooting Linked to Funsi Chieftaincy Dispute
The Ghana Police Service has reported that 34 suspects have been apprehended following a shooting incident in connection with a Chieftaincy dispute at Funsi in the Upper West Region.
The incident happened after youth from the traditional area clashed over a chieftaincy dispute where several shots were fired leading to the escalation of the issue which led to a chaotic scene prompting the police attention.
The Police, after hearing the incident, rushed to the scene to separate the youth during the clash, but the situation escalated. The police were able to bring the situation under control.

According to the Upper West Regional Police Command, the incident occurred on May 22, 2026, at the Gbelonosi section, where two victims were found dead after police responded to reports of gunfire.
