Court Prosecutes 12 Sanitation Offenders in Kumasi

The court has convicted twelve sanitation offenders after they were arraigned before the court after being arrested by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

On Tuesday, May, 12, 2026 all twelve accused were found guilty after pleading guilty to the offence under Section 56(a and b) of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851).

Janet Kyeremateng, 56; Benedicta Yaa Adongo, 43; Cloton Parker, 25; Janet Kwarteng, 48; Rebecca Addai Manu, 30; Augustina Botwe, 35; Enock Opoku, 35; Senyo Glah, 45; Patricia Anagbosa, 40; Esther Gyamfi, 40; and Victoria Antwi, 41 were identified as above.

Accused

The court presided over by His Worship Kwaku Ansah Akrofi charged the offenders with a 100 penalty units and a fine of GHS1,200 each, and a 14-day prison sentence to each of them.

An accused in the case who is 18 years old, Kadija Dramani, received leniency due to her age. She was fined 40 penalty units of GHS 480.

The KMA prosecutor, Enock Nkansah narrated to the court that the accused were arrested by the KMA guard after they found them illegally dumping refuse at Otumfuo Roundabout, MTN Roundabout, WAEC, and opposite Kumasi Zoo.
