His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Vice President, Jane Naana Agyemang, is expected to present the proposal for the Women’s Development Bank to the next cabinet meeting.
The President speaking at the Citizens’ engagement at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School disclosed that the government is making steady progress in ensuring the bank which was promised by his party during the general election is established.
According to him, the vice president is expected to present the proposal outlining the framework of the project to the cabinet for the steps to be taken for its implementation.

He further stated that the establishment of a financial institution in the country requires several regulatory requirements and procedures by the Bank of Ghana.
The president revealed that, the Minister of Finance has allocated GHS 450million for the establishment of the bank and that seed money has been secured for the project.
“The Minister of Finance has already allocated GH¢450 million, sitting there in the accounts waiting for the commencement of the bank. The GH¢450 million will be the capital for the bank”, he said.
The Women’s Development is part of the government project in ensuring a broader economic growth in the country targeting the support and empowerment of women.
