President Mahama Calls for Cancer Treatment in Tamale

The president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, during his inspection of progress on the new cardiothoracic center in Tamale, has directed the Minister of Health to build a cancer treatment center in Tamale.

According to him, building such a center will reduce the rate of patients who travel to the southern part of the country for specialised care.

In his address, he acknowledged the progress of the project and asked the work to be continued as he assured the people of Tamale that the project will be operational and finished by next year.

Furthermore, the president added that there is a need to establish more specialised centers within the country to help reduce the congestion at prominent hospitals in the country such as Korle Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

He added that, the cardiothoracic which is the first of its kind in Tamale will not only serve the people of Tamale but can also attract the neighboring countries into the country to access the facility.

The president commended the Ministry of Health for their efforts in enhancing the Health Ministry and the Medical Trust foundation for their investment and also urged them to continue investing in building more specialised centers.
