Al Farouk Alwahab, speaking on Kessben FM, reacted to the reported arrest of Ghanaian MP for Asante Akyem, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Al Wahab reported that most Members of Parliament (MPs) travel with service passports, not diplomatic passports, even though they are MPs.

He added that, diplomatic passports are mainly reserved for high-ranking MPs, government officials, diplomats, and certain state representatives assigned to official international duties.

He explained that the diplomatic passport will not be issued to a member of Parliament to travel outside the country whether on business of the country or for personal reasons.

He stated that diplomats within a vicinity or a country have the advantage in obtaining passports for business in the country or for something special.

He added that people asking whether the MP for Asante Akyem has diplomatic passports may lack the explanation for diplomatic passports, as he added that MPs travel on a service passport and not a diplomatic passport.
