A nursing mother aged 35 years old and a seamstress has been apprehended by the Ghana Police Service at Bole Mempeasem a community in the Savannah Region for allegedly using a razor blade to wound a five-year-old girl who was left in her care by the parents.
According to the Assemblyman of the Mempeasem Electoral area Hassan Abu Peace who reported the case said the incident occurred on 20th May, 2026 when he discovered the child was injured and questioned who did that to her.
Marijana Alhassan the suspect after her arrest informed the police that the child was highly dependent as she described her dependence as she was not able to eat, undress, or use the toilet on her own which resulted in her assault.

Marijana upon further questioning by the police denied inflicting blade wounds on the child but accepted that she pushed her out of frustration and upon landing she fell on a mop stick, which made her sustain injuries.

The suspect remains in police custody assisting their investigation to identify the actual cause of the wounds on the child.
The authorities in the Mempeasem area have not spoken about the case while the police are yet to issue an official statement surrounding the case involving the minor.
