President Mahama Announces Ghana’s First Ever e-Visa Portal on Arrival

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has launched Ghana’s first-ever e-Visa portal on arrival to streamline the immigration and transmission process in the country.

The President has described the e-visa portal as a major transformation in the immigration service for all Africans traveling into the country.

The president, speaking on Monday, May, 25,2026, at the launch of the e-visa portal, says the portal will allow all foreigners, particularly Africans, to access visas on the platform without visiting embassies to queue for them.

He added that Africans traveling into the country for business will apply electronically through the platform without paying any visa fees.

He also stated that the visa-on-arrival arrangement has been abolished citing that the e-visa will replace the old system.

The President explained that the new platform is aimed at strengthening the ties between Africans and the diaspora.

He urged all relevant institutions to integrate and adopt a framework for the new platform.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Okudzeto Ablakwa also assured applicants that the new platform will be efficient and reduce processing time.
