Limiting Recruitment to Only 7,000 is Unfair – Leaders of 48 Colleges Protest
The leadership of the forty-eight (48) training colleges in the country has taken to the streets to protest against the government’s recruitment of 7,000 teachers into the education sector.
They are on the verge of petitioning the government to halt the teachers’ recruitment as they find it unfair because they are three different batches who are waiting for their posting after graduating.
With their placards and slogans, they move through the country’s capital calling on the Ghana Education Service (GES) and its stakeholders to review the recruitment process as it does not reflect the quota of the students currently at home.

“We can not train thousands of students and recruit only 7,000 that is unfair”, protesters say.
The Teacher Trainee Association of Ghana (TTAG) cautions that if the recruitment is not halted, there will be nationwide protests against the government and the GES.
“Limiting recruitment to only 7,000 is unfair”, they wrote on a placard.
The leadership urged the government to increase the slots for the quota recruitment of trained teachers.
