MahamaCares Set to Launch Full Operation in June in 29 health facilities – Obuobia Darko

Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund has disclosed that the initiative is set to begin in full operation in June across twenty-nine (29) health facilities.

Obuobia explained that patients suffering from communicable diseases will be enrolled in the scheme after a recommendation from doctors from selected health facilities.

Speaking on Asempafm, Obuobia added that twenty-nine health facilities have been selected to benefit from the initiative by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

The health facilities selected for the initiative include Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Ho Teaching Hospital, and Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

Also; Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Eastern Regional Hospital, Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Volta Regional Hospital, and Kumasi South Hospital.

She further added; Holy Family Hospital, Baptist Medical Centre, University of Ghana Medical Centre, 37 Military Hospital, International Maritime Hospital, The Bank Hospital, Trust Hospital, Ayisha Hospital, St. Michael Specialist Hospital, and Ura Care.

She added that Northern Regional Hospital, Upper West Regional Hospital, Upper East Regional Hospital, Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital, Goaso Municipal Hospital, and Bole Municipal Hospital are among the facilities under the programme.

She explained that doctors from all the health facilities are connected to a system where they can recommend a patient and after that, it will be vetted before being given the needed care.

In her submission, she added that where National Health Insurance (NHIS) can cover the initiative will cover from there.
