The Remand of Abronye DC is a Judicial Abuse – Mr. Bomfeh
Mr. James Kwabena Bomfeh, Managing Editor of National Forum Newspaper has criticised the handling of Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye as an abuse of the judicial discretionary power.
He stated emphatically that government officials are not considered above the constitution governing the nation and freedom of speech should be permitted to be expressed.
“The right is addressed. We shouldn’t think government selectees are above or beyond critique. No one is above question,” he said.

He added that governmental decisions are subject to commentary and scrutiny by the public while ensuring constructive criticism.
He lamented that the Abronye DC had made a statement a commentary deemed inappropriate by the way of handling him is troubling.
Mr. Bomfeh argues that the arrests and remand of Abronye DC are a direct attack on the freedom of speech in the country.
He stressed that the decision to remand the NPP Bono Regional Chairman pending trial questioned whether the punishment is inflicted before conviction was obtained.
“Abronye DC has been remanded for the pendency of the case. If he is convicted of the offense, what will be the most severe penalty?” he added.
He cautioned that the government officials should not assert that the authority of power entrusted to them could be used to undermine the power of the democratic rules in the country.
